Romane
Meine Arbeit in der Gestaltung von Romanen - Satz und Umschlaggestaltung - fußt in erster Linie auf der Kreativität meiner Familie. Schließlich habe ich selbst bislang keinen Roman geschrieben. Und so bleibt mir die Ehre, aus Schreibmaschinenseiten und Woirdokumenten die folgenden Werke erstellt zu haben: Ein Indien-Roman meiner Schwester, ein Erstlingswerk meines zum Zeitpunkt des Schreibens fünfjährigen Neffen und ein Reiseroman meines Vaters aus dem Jahr 1975.
Novels
My layout work with respect to novels is based on the creativity of my family. After all I have never written a book myself. What remains is the honour to have carved the following books from basic word documents and typewritten pages: An India novel by my sister, a debut novel of my nephew, who has been 5 years old at the time of writing, and an adventure novel written by my dad in 1975.

Das Buch "Nebeltage im Himalaya" erzählt die Geschichte einer jungen städtischen Inderin nach ihrem Umzug in den kleinen indischen Himalayastaat Sikkim. Ihre Beschreibungen und Gefühle erschließen dem Leser die Gedankenwelt einer modernen und doch traditionell geprägten Inderin und ihre Erfahrung in der für sie fremden und abgeschiedenen Welt eines Dorfes im Himalaya. Im Laufe des Romans, in dem sie ihre täglichen Erlebnisse und Begebenheiten im Dorf beschreibt, reflektiert sie über Kultur und Religion, über den fast magischen Einfluss der Natur und die mystischen Glaubensvorstellungen der Dörfler. In ihrer passiv verstandenen Frauenrolle wird sie zur Beobachterin des eigenen unabänderlichen Schicksals.
The book "Nebeltage im Himalaya" ("Foggy Days in the Himalayas") tells the story of a young urban Indian woman after her moving to the small Indian state of Sikkim in the Himalayas. Her narratives and feelings open up the intellectual world of a modern and yet traditionally raised Indian woman and her experiences in a an alien and remote village in the Himalayas. In the course of the novel she not only describes her daily life in the village, she also reflects on culture and religion, on hte almost magical influence of nature and the mystic faith of the rural people. As she is intepreting her role as a woman passively, she is taking an observer's perspective on her own irrevocabel destiny.

Julian Tobias Masny, geboren 2005, verfasste seinen Debütroman im Alter von fünf Jahren. Er nimmt uns mit auf eine Reise in seine Fantasiewelt, in die Welt der Clowns und Kinder, in eine Welt, in der man Bratwurst mit Thunfischfilet isst und den Ton der Kirchenglocken gerne mal auf schrill verstellt.
Julians Geschichte springt zwanglos zwischen verschiedenen Handlungssträngen und erzählt uns mit viel Witz ganz nebenher, wie die Leute in China zu den Stäbchen kommen konnten.
Mit dieser Novelle beweist der Autor, dass man nie zu jung ist um ein Buch zu schreiben.

Julian Tobias Masny, born in 2005, wrote his first novel at the age of five. He is taking us into a fantasy world, a world of clowns and kids, a world in which it is normal to eat bratwurst with tuna filet and in which you can switch the sound of church bells to shrill.
Julian's narration is swapping between story lines without hesitation and with a pinch of humour Julian tells us how the people in China got hold of the chopsticks (title of the book) - as a sidenote.
With publishing this novel the author proves that you are never to young to wirte a book.

Bildbände
Im Laufe der letzten Jahre habe ich zehntausende Fotos geschossen (und die technische Auslegung meiner digitalen Spiegelreflex deutlich übertroffen). Natürlich ist das meiste davon Ausschuss. Die besseren Fotos landen auf Facebook und in der Bildergalerie von masny.eu (siehe oben). Einige ganz wenige hängen an meinen Wänden, tauchen in Kalendern auf, oder werden zu Klappkarten verwandelt. Eine der schönsten Formen, Bildern einen würdigen Rahmen zu geben, ist jedoch die Gestaltung von Bildbänden. Und wenn ich von Bildbänden spreche, sehe ich darin auch den Anspruch, meine Werke über die Qualität eines durchschnittlichen Fotobuchs hinaus gehen zu lassen, durch Anmutung, Druckqualität und Auswahl der Bilder. Ob mir dies gelingt? Diese Bewertung überlasse ich gerne den Betrachtern meiner Bücher.
Pictorials
Over the years I have taken ten thousands of photos (and surpassed the technical specification of my digital SLR by far). Obviously, most of the pictures are junk. The better results are posted on Facebook and in the picture gallery on masny.eu (see above). A very selected few hang on my walls, find their way into calendars or onto selfmade postcards. One of the nicest way to preserve the work, however, is the publication of pictorials. And talking about pictorials implies my claim to leave behind the typical photo book both in terms of impression, print quality and selection of photographs. Do I succeed in that? I leave it up to the eye of the beholder.
